Berlin’s Fashion scene has been growing and maturing tremendously over the past years. Next to the numerous fashion shows, trade fairs, awards and numerous events, the schedule is extended by another major appointment: The Berlin Fashion Film Festival fills the gap of significant fashion media supporting the development of further labels and creatives.

Film has experienced growing popularity among fashion designers in recent times, producing a (short) film is a less expensive medium to present a show. Designers have chosen a motion picture over a presentation at the tent at Brandenburg Gate.

The jury consists of and is responsible for the disciplines
Johan Renck - best cinematography
Yoann Le Goec - best fasion
Diane Pernet - bestfashion film
Till Diestel - best idea
Oliver Koletzki - best music
and the best ESMOD production will receive a six-month-presentation at Konzept86.

Designer Scouts, the berlin based “platform for extraordinary and upcoming designers that aims to capture the spirit of the creative fashion scene bringing it closer into the context of the international fashion world” (designerscouts.com) is co-curator for this years Fashion & Art Toronto Festival, which takes place from April 24 to 28, 2012 in Toronto, Canada.

Since not all fashion savvy in Berlin will travel to Toronto, Designer Scouts created an event this friday in Berlin. Participation is allowed only for accredited guests.

Participating labels in Toronto and Berlin are: Augustin Teboul, Esther Perbandt, Howitzweissbach, Isabel Vollrath, JULIAANDBEN, Lisa Shahno, Moga E Mago, Sadak, Tata Christiane und Von Bardonitz. If you desire to participate, get your accreditation here

The Sport of Fitness has arrived - CrossFit.
I have been lucky to do CrossFit for about 18 months already. This big american sportswear company is currently rolling out events to spread the word about it further. Today is the stop in Berlin (pictured at Sony Center/ Potsdamer Platz) and Paris.

This weekend, the cyclists and velo savvy travel to and gather in Berlin at the Berlin Bicycle Show (Berliner Fahrradschau). The show features technology and equipment, shows and artists, and all those smal details that make every bike a custom bike. Furthermore topics of intelligent mobility are covered. Don’t miss it if you’re smart enough to move on two wheels.

ISSEVER BAHRI showing a brave and strong collection. Applying their signature knitted leather and silk pieces to new suits, blazers, and dresses. Eye catching fur coats and embroidered leather jackets create excitement among the audience at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Berlin. This diverse collection sets contrasts, one could argue that it is too wide and not thorough enough in terms of continuity. But that is not true, the whole collection carries the signature of the duo without being boring. The style and elegance are contemporary. Reminiscing the previous collections, it is astonishing to see how large the developments are despite the degree of quality from their first collection onwards. It was definitely time to show on the big catwalk, seeing this collection one can ask why not before. But what’s more important: ISSEVER BAHRI are here to stay.

Bodi Bill is plying at Tape Club in berlin tonight. Windows Phone invited me and some friends, so we’re going for sure to see this young unit. Whoever cannot attend because you didn’t get tickets or is not willing to fight your way in, there is the live stream.

MachinaImpresa, a new Italian business model and design collaboration ‘Whats?!’ shows their newest projects this Friday at Sanatorium23 (Frankfurter Allee 23, Berlin), supported by Fier Management. This week begins with news about an event that we can look forward to!

This inevitably violent image, whose faith is generally to be destroyed, becomes something profoundly different when re-presented as an every-day object: a beach towel. Protecting from sand and absorbing water, its destiny is now to be washed and to be laid down. Shoot me however, does not lose its semiotic relevance by transforming back into a shooting range when hanged to dry and by turning those wrapped in its insides into targets.”
